How To Use Faith to Activate Your Promises

What do you do when you feel stuck? When you're waiting for a breakthrough, holding onto promises from God that haven't shown up yet?

Recently, while reading through the book of Hebrews, one phrase gripped me:
"Faith activates the promise." (Hebrews 4:3, TPT)

That one sentence stopped me in my tracks.

Faith Is Not Passive

We’re surrounded by promises, both the universal ones found in Scripture and the personal ones God has whispered to our hearts. But far too often, we sit back, waiting for them to happen, wondering why nothing is changing.

The truth is: Faith activates the promise.
Not striving, Not anxiety, Not wishful thinking.
Faith, real, tangible, obedient faith, puts things in motion in the spiritual realm and draws them into the natural.

Hebrews is a blueprint for activation. As I continued through Hebrews, I noticed a pattern:

• Faith and patience inherit the promise (Hebrews 6:12)
• Hope is anchored in God’s faithfulness (Hebrews 6:19)
• Faith fastened onto their promises and pulled them into reality (Hebrews 11:33)
• Faith sparked courage, igniting heavenly armies (Hebrews 11:34)
• This is not just poetic theology—it’s practical Kingdom strategy.

A Story That Changed Everything

Years ago, while coaching people around their dreams, I watched this principle in action. One man wrote down a dream to go deep-sea fishing, something he’d never said aloud. Just days later, someone invited him on a fishing trip. He didn’t hustle for it. He wrote it down in faith, and faith activated the promise.

When I Was Stuck

Not long ago, I found myself in a season of waiting. I had received multiple prophetic words about using my voice beyond the Heaven in Business platform. But for six months, I didn’t know what to do… so I did nothing.

Until I remembered: Faith activates the promise. So, I started to move.

I put a phrase on my wall: "It's entirely possible."
I scheduled a time with Andy to talk strategy.
I began developing a new website.
I committed to daily leadership growth.
I wrote out action steps and started ticking them off.

It wasn't instant magic, but something began shifting.

What Are You Sitting On?

Maybe you're like I was, sitting on promises, paralyzed by uncertainty, or overwhelmed by life. What if the breakthrough you’re waiting for is on the other side of one small act of faith?

It could be as simple as:

1. Writing the dream down

2. Making a declaration

3. Scheduling a conversation

4. Taking a class

5. Calling a mentor

“Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.” (James 2:18)

Need a place to start? Fasten onto one of these promises:

Psalm 91:3 – He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.

Isaiah 26:3 – He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast.

Romans 8:28 – All things work together for good for those who love God.

James 4:8 – Come near to God and He will come near to you.

Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.

Don’t try to activate every promise at once. Just pick one. Fasten onto it. Declare it. Take action. And watch what happens.

Final Challenge: Do One Thing

I once challenged a coaching client to take one small action toward her dream, even though she felt overwhelmed. Within two weeks, life and energy started flowing back into her world.

So I challenge you: Do one thing today. Take one step of faith. Say yes to the next nudge from God.

Because faith activates the promise, and God is ready to meet you in motion.
