Stop Waiting—You Have What It Takes

Nothing Is Missing: How to Step into Your Calling Without Waiting for Permission

Janine Mason | Heaven in Business

I just got back from a 12-day ministry trip to Brazil—full of miracles, messiness, and unexpected moments. But it wasn’t the trip that changed me. It was the wrestle underneath it all.

Listen to the podcast here.

I went in with high expectations. I was believing for God to show up through me in power. I’d prayed. I’d prepared. I’d invested time, money, and faith. I even had a prophetic word: “You have a seat at the table.” It felt like a setup for something big—something new. I thought someone would recognize my potential… invite me into leadership… call me out.

But it didn’t happen.

In fact, the trip was messy. People got sick. Plans shifted. Our team leader was down with illness for half the time. Instead of being called up, I found myself praying behind the scenes and initiating ministry moments in ordinary places—on buses, in kids’ church, during downtime. I kept asking God: Where’s the seat at the table you promised?

Here’s what I realized: I was waiting for permission when God had already given it.

Even though I was leading in small ways, I was still hoping someone else would affirm, promote, or validate me. I was acting like I needed human confirmation to move forward, when Heaven had already said yes... and I was already doing it!

The truth hit me like a wave when I got home and brought it all to the Lord:

“Forgive me, God, that your Word hasn’t been enough for me in this area. You’ve already told me I have what it takes. I’m not waiting anymore.”

That moment of repentance shifted something deep inside me. I’ve now got a phrase written on the wall of my new office: “It’s entirely possible.” It’s not just décor. It’s a declaration. It’s me saying yes to the new, because God already has.

What About You?

Maybe you’re in a similar place, waiting for permission or an invitation or a title, a prophetic word, or someone else to give you the green light.

Let me challenge you with the same three questions I had to ask myself:

Am I taking initiative, or am I waiting?

What has God already said?

What do I need, and have I asked God for it?

It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and wait for someone to notice you. But God’s already called you by name. He’s already empowered you. As Colossians 1:11 says, “We are strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might.” And 2 Peter 1:3? He’s given us everything we need for life and godliness.

So what if nothing is missing!? What if everything you need to begin is already in your hand!?

My Next Steps:

Here’s what moving forward looked like for me and could look like for you:

I started writing again. (Yes, even when I felt unsure.)

I created space in my life, an office, a rhythm, to reflect my next step.

I surrounded myself with wise voices and strategic support.

I’m not waiting anymore. And neither should you.

Your Next Steps:

  1. Stop Waiting for Permission – If God already said it, you simply need to act.

  2. Take Initiative Where You Are – Leadership often looks like serving without being asked.

  3. Recognize the Lies – Repent where you’ve let the need for external affirmation override God’s voice.

You were never meant to lead alone. Let’s walk this out together.
And remember… It’s entirely possible.
